What you would do in this job:
1. Responsible for the Securian Financial federal PAC filings, the conduit fund administration, lobbyist registrations, pay-to-play reporting requirements and tracking of Securian Financial's political contributions policy for board and HOC members.
2. Assists Sr. Director of Public Affairs and Corporate Secretary with onboarding SFG board members and HOC members on issues of political contributions and relevant pay-to-play considerations, and assist in service delivery to the enterprise.
3. Monitors developments at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and ensures active participation in developing model legislation, and meeting with individual commissioners. Works in collaboration with Securian Financial actuaries to ensure Company's engagement in relevant issues.
4. Performs legislative and regulatory tracking to ensure corporate attorneys, Corporate Compliance Department, business units and Sr. Director of Public Affairs are aware of legislative and regulatory developments that affect their business or functional area.
5. Coordinates the Regulatory and Legislative Oversight Group (RLOG) and ensures issue tracking and engagement of subject matter experts is up to date.
6. Ensures that the Company has appropriate subject matter expert engagement on all relevant committees at the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) and other important national trade associations.
7. Maintains understanding of political issue developments through state trade associations such as the Life Insurance Council of New York (LICONY) and the Association of California Life and Health Insurance Companies (ACLHIC) and ensures relevant subject matter expert engagement as appropriate.

5. Strong organizational skills to prioritize and handle numerous and varied transactions and projects concurrently.


Preferred skills for this job:
1. Minimum of 3 years in financial services and/or insurance industry preferred. Experience in corporate government affairs function is a plus.
2. Strong track record in a 4 year degree program.

Physical job requirements:
• Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
• Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day
• Ability to utilize telephone for approximately 1-4 hours per day
• Ability to perform simple grasping including handwriting, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, etc. periodically throughout entire workday
